The New York State School Age Care Coalition (NYSSACC)
is a non-profit membership association for afterschool professionals in New York
State. We are the official state affiliate for the National AfterSchool
Association.
In an effort to serve you better,
we are
currently updating our site. We anticipate launching our
expanded, revised site on September 15, 2008.
Please note that we are currently accepting
applications for the fall session of our Distance Learning School-Age Care
Credential Preparation Class which begins September 23, 2008 and will meet
online online Tuesdays from 7-8:30 pm. Highlights of this course include:
Live-real-time
sessions where you will be on the phone and online simultaneously
Easy
log on! (please see course application for technology requirements)
Students
will participate in an online bulletin board; develop presentations of learning
to share during live sessions and prepare a Portfolio and Resource File in order
to meet SAC credential requirements.
Course
contact hours add up to between 35-45 hours per semester; roughly 90 minutes
live, plus 1-2 hours on the bulletin board, plus 1-2 hours working on your
Portfolio and Resource File per week.
Students
are also expected to attend one professional development conference
during each semester of the DL Course because professionals seek out these kinds
of learning and networking opportunities. Check with your local child care
council for other appropriate professional development opportunities for
conferences or workshops in your area.
If
you have not already applied for EIP funding, do so now. The name of the
course is School-Age Care Distance Learning Credential Preparatory Course. The
sponsoring agency is NYSSACC. The course fee is $900 for each of 2 semesters.

Two
online orientations will be held at which enrollees will be informed of the SAC
credentialing process; become familiar with the technology used for the course
and to receive answers to any of their questions.
Registration Fee: A $100.00 non-refundable registration fee is
required to secure your registration in our upcoming course. This amount will be
applied to your total tuition. In addition, current membership in NYSSACC is
required prior to registration.
